Sr. Captives Reinsurance Analyst
Zurich is currently looking for a Sr. Captives Reinsurance Analyst for our Captives team in our North American HQ in Schaumburg, IL.
As a member of Zurich's Captives Team you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your analytical and project management skills. Specifically, you will, as a line of business specialist, be responsible for assisting in the overall strategy of the line of business managed and assists in managing profit and loss of the line of business by identifying the drivers of profit and loss in the portfolio and making recommendations for improvements. This position is market-facing, shares expertise with underwriters, attends industry events, and visits customers/brokers.
Influencer Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with external contacts. Relationships typically involve successful collaboration on routine matters and/or with peer level clients and/or customers.
Our Sr. Captives Reinsurance Analyst works in conjunction with various departments within the organization, facilitates the administration of the various insurance programs. Internal and external customers and is responsible for:
Provides expert counsel and guidance to underwriters. Supports training activities. Provides training support from a technical underwriting standpoint.
Develops and monitors complex underwriting initiatives - drives analysis to determine the drivers of profit and loss within a portfolio. Makes recommendations for improvements.
Makes recommendations for product changes - assists in the creation/modification of new products.
Significantly contributes to process improvement and innovation. May be involved in operational change activities relative to the line of business managed.
Disseminates key updates related to the specific industry segment managed. May write white papers/articles or oversee their development. Has a strong market-facing presence - may make presentations at industry events.
Addresses governance and regulatory issues.
Interfaces with internal departments such as Actuarial team, Credit Risk, Claims, Technical Underwriting, and Underwriting Support to manage problem resolution.
Business Travel, as required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Insurance area
- Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Insurance area
Bachelors Degree with 3 or more years of insurance industry experience
Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills
Experience working with International accounts
Knowledge of loss sensitive programs
Ability to be an effective team player
Ability to handle multiple and varied complex assignments
Strong problem solving skills
Strong organizational solving skills
