CRANDALL FARMS BeeKeeper Apprenticeship in COAL VALLEY, Illinois

Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Manage current bee yards (apiaries) and expands into new locations. Monitors the health of hives taking corrective action as necessary. Mows the grass and sometimes trims the trees around the hives. Level's hive stands as necessary. Increases number of hives by installing new packages of bees into hives and taking splits off of current hives. Harvests honey, prepares hives for winter, medication and feeding as necessary. Clear new locations for hives. Build hive stands. This is a three year registered apprenticeship with the U.S. Department of Labor. Initially this person will learn from our retiring beekeeper to maintain and expand all of our bee yards. Management of all the aspects of our beekeeping business will eventually be the responsibility of this person. Occasional travel required. This is a pay while learning opportunity. Four paid holidays, Experience helpful but will train the right person. Classroom training is part of the apprenticeship.
